Early this summer, I was selling brownies and snickerdoodles at a market trying to raise some money for this project. I met a lovely woman there who told me she had a friend who may want to speak with me. Cut forward a few weeks and I'm sitting in the basement of our local library, talking to Shauna. She came through the door ready to talk with no holds barred. We got straight to business and spoke for about an hour and fifteen minutes. During this time I learned we had a ridiculous number of things in common: roller-derby (see all you Dam-City Rollers in September, 2023!), snowboarding, weight-lifting, support networks, employment experiences - it just didn't stop. One thing I did not catch on film was her saying meeting her husband was one of the best things to happen in her life.
